I was responsible for the interior design of the showroom and office for SAKURAIYATOUGUTEN, a studio that designs and produces original lighting fixtures. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood of Kotesashi, the space was formerly a jewelry shop that the owner, Mr. Toyoda, and his close friends had frequented since their teenage years. With a deep respect for the memories and emotional ties to the place, I approached the design with a strong intention to preserve its spirit while giving it a renewed purpose. While new furniture and fixtures were necessary to support the updated function of the space, I chose to retain original elements such as the walls and flooring, allowing the history of the location to remain a visible and meaningful presence. In addition to pendant lights, which serve as the main exhibition pieces, I incorporated wall slits to allow for future installation of bracket lights. Power sources are discreetly built into the walls, enabling flexible and creative lighting arrangements.
