この椅子は、箱型のパルプモールド製パーツを横向きに積み重ねることで、座面と背もたれを構成しています。
ひとつひとつは小さなパーツですが、数多く重ねることで、強度のある骨格のような構造が生まれ、家具として新たな形に生まれ変わります。この構造によって、2023年にはベンチタイプを制作し、続いて2025年にW700mm幅のラウンジチェアタイプをミラノで発表しました。こうした展開により、構造の応用性とバリエーションの可能性を具体的に示すことができました。
パルプモールドは、肌触りのやさしさも大きな特徴です。
同時に、人の体重をしっかりと支えられるだけの剛性も備えています。このベンチは、左右に開口部を持つ形状を、内部に通した鉄管によって接続しています。
その造形から金管楽器を連想し、「HORN」と名付けました。
This bench is made of box-shaped pulp mold parts stacked horizontally to create the seat and backrest.
Even the smallest box-shaped pieces can be stacked in large quantities to form a strong skeleton that can be transformed into furniture.
It is easy to imagine that this structure could be used to create variations in seat width, which would mean new design possibilities
in the future.
Pulp mold is also characterized by its softness to the touch.
At the same time, it is rigid enough to support the weight of a human being.
This bench has openings on both sides and is connected by an iron pipe that runs through the interior.
The name “HORN” comes from this structure, which reminds me of a brass instrument.
