1925年、マルセル ブロイヤーのワシリーチェアの発表からちょうど100年経つ。 それは世界で初めて金属パイプを使用した椅子であったわけだが、パイプは現在でも家具造りの素材としてスタンダードな選択肢の一つである。 新素材に注目される昨今でも、デザイン界の偉大な先人達が家具の材料に採用してきた金属パイプは“過去のもの”にする必要のない優秀な素材です。 スチールパイプに加え、合板やレザーという“幾度となく家具の材料になってきた素材”の汎用性を信じ、現在を生きるデザイナーとして、新たな可能性を生み出すことに注力しました。

In 1925, exactly 100 years have passed since Marcel Breuer introduced the Wassily Lounge Chair. It was the first chair in the world to use metal pipes, and pipes are still one of the standard materials of choice for furniture construction today. Even in these days when new materials are the focus of attention, metal pipe, which has been used as a material for furniture by our great predecessors in the design world, is an excellent material that does not need to be “relegated to the past. As a designer living in the present, I focused on creating new possibilities, believing in the versatility of “materials that have been used for furniture many times,” such as plywood and leather, in addition to steel pipe.
